3 day Cheng Hsin workshop with Elizabeth Saetia
August 5 @ 10:00 am - August 7 @ 5:00 pm

We are delighted to offer this 3 day workshop with renowned Cheng Hsin, Tai Chi and Qi gong teacher Elizabeth Saetia. Cheng Hsin enables a calm mind and a body which is grounded, supple and free. It is suitable for all ages and people come to it for many different reasons: the health benefits of natural movement, to develop self-awareness, for effective interaction with other, or to develop the martial art ‘holy grail’ of ‘effortless power’. Although originally conceived by Peter Ralston as a martial art (as the Art of Effortless Power), Cheng Hsin has been used effectively in many different spheres, from water polo to ballet. It offers a way of being which can open up our experience of all life.
This workshop will develop the characteristics of an effortlessly effective ‘Body-Being’: relaxed, grounded, centred, integrated and calm. We will be using co-operative partner exercised and freestyle games to develop our feeling-awareness of ourselves and others. We seek to interact with a partner without resistance or struggle by following them continuously no matter what is occurring.
Elizabeth has been teaching Cheng Hsin and Tai Chi Qigong for over 20 years. With 3 diplomas in Cheng Hsin, she is one of the most qualified teachers of the art in Europe. She lives in Mulhouse in France and this is her third visit to Cumbria, where she is already a much loved teacher.
Each day will start at 10.30am and will comprise of 3 sessions of 90 minutes, punctuated by breaks for food and rest. There will be an optional fourth session of contemplation and reflection at the end of each day (at no extra charge). This is non-sectarian, with the purpose to simply experience the truth of whatever we are contemplating for ourselves, for example, by working with the question ‘Who am I?’.
Total cost per person is £150. Maximum 10 participants.
