About Laura

After attending a yoga class with my mum at the age of twelve I was deeply affected and I have been a student of Yoga ever since. This is both as a physical and a spiritual practice.  My passion and curiosity for this universal, timeless teaching remains undiminished after almost 40 years. Sharing these transformational gifts with students from all backgrounds and ages and at levels of ability is central to my work and life’s calling. The particular emphasis in all of my work is the Power of the Breath as a tool for healing, personal growth and transformation.

Training

Learning to meditate in my early twenties was a springboard to decades of study. I first trained as a Yoga teacher in the the early 1990s with the British Wheel of Yoga. Further to this I then enrolled with the Yoga Biomedical Trust in London and qualified as one of the first clinically trained Yoga Therapists in the UK in 2003.

For many years I have worked closely with the Founder of the Dent Meditation Centre, Eliza Harrison, and completed her Teacher Training Programme in 2005. In the last 10 years, my personal journey has incorporated Sound Healing with Quartz Crystal Bowls and vocal toning, as well as Aramaic Prayer. I share these practices on a 121 basis and on my retreat days. My tutors and guides in these ongoing areas of study are Jonathan Goldman and Dr Neil Douglas-Klotz.

Teaching

I have now been teaching for over thirty years and my students span all ages and backgrounds.  I was a visiting lecturer for John Moores University in Liverpool for many years, contributing to their Annual Symposium for Complementary Health. During this time, I was also teaching classes for local MS and Parkinsons Society members. I have also taught yoga to children in primary schools around Cumbria as well as contributing to Olympic Training camps at the Kendal Dojo.

I now offer therapeutic yoga courses and classes as well as Sound Healing and Aramaic Prayer retreat days. I am particularly drawn to work with small groups and individuals seeking healing transformation in their lives and who are committed to exploring and embracing the spiritual aspect of that journey.

Laura teaches a wonderful 90 minute Somatic Yoga class every month on Friday mornings at The Meditation Centre to which all are welcome along with various retreat days and yoga therapy courses throughout the year. Laura also facilitates our Thursday evening Meditation Group and teaches and supports on many of our meditation courses including our Teacher Training Programme.

She also teaches 121 sessions in yoga and meditation and sound healing and leads workshops in the local area. For more details visit her Facebook page: Laura Clare – Effortless Yoga, Sound Healing and Meditation
