Elly has been practicing a mixture of yoga techniques for over 25 years (iyengar, Astanga and Sivananda amongst others). She trained on Godfrey Devereau’s teacher training course in dynamic yoga in 2001, and currently facilitates several classes at the Centre. She has previously taught pregnancy yoga, hot yoga, and particularly enjoys teaching therapeutic yoga. She has taught students with a range of disabilities (including dementia) at community centres and residential care homes. She qualified to teach yoga with the British Wheel of Yoga (BWY), with an additional specialisation in teaching yoga for age related conditions. She formed part of the pilot group that studied age related conditions and yoga as part of the development of this course. She qualified in teaching mindfulness and yoga to children in January and hopes to start classes in the near future. Elly believes yoga is an excellent practical tool to help others, as needed, to stay mobile, reduce stress and anxiety, gain energy, clear focus, perspective, acceptance and hopefully happiness. Her teaching style varies with the students needs.
